All foreplay and promises.

Progress: After I posted yesterday, I wrote a pantoum in praise of avocados, and the better part of a poem about oranges, so I’m taking tonight off, eating half-price Easter candy and watching bad television.

  1. Oh, can’t you give us just a snippet? A pantoum in praise of avocados? It sounds so enticing (and Neruda-esqe).

  2. Here are the opening lines as the poem stands now:

    Served plain,
their meat is cool and smooth,
    all for play and promises.
    They’re a cooing roof.

I did have Neruda (inevitably, I think) in mind when I started writing about vegetables.
